About the Role

We are a top Fire Protection and Safety company looking for a Fire Sprinkler Designer to work on projects in the Greater Austin area. Ideally, we would like a designer with at least 1-3 years of Fire Sprinkler Design experience to the position is full-time and is onsite in Leander, TX

Would ideally like to have a designer that is proficient in tenant sprinkler designs, however, will consider all with experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with other designers.
• Read and interpret contract documents, including all disciplines of construction drawings and specifications.
• Design “For Construction” fire protection sprinkler systems including: Tenant improvements, fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, and deluge systems, with accuracy and detail to enable field installation.
• Create system designs using specialized fire sprinkler layout software (AutoSPRINK).
• Perform hydraulic calculations.
• Submit design plans to Local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) for approval and obtain permits as required.
• Create material lists and fabrication reports for projects, request and compare material quotes.
• Conduct site surveys, communicate with field personnel, coordinate systems with all building trades, and participate in BIM modeling and coordination meetings.
• Work closely with the Estimation team, Design Manager, Field, and Operations.
• Conduct hydraulic analysis of fire sprinkler system designs, including sprinklers, standpipes, pumps, municipal supplies, etc.
• Coordination of sprinkler system with architectural, structural and mechanical systems
• Updating of shop drawings and materials for project record and close out procedures

Required Education and Experience:

• MUST have at least 1 year of Fire Sprinkler design using tools like AutoSprink (preferred), HydraCAD, SprinkCAD or AutoCAD.
• NICET certification a plus. Either In Training, or NICET Level I, II, III, or IV certified.
• Proven ability and track record of performing work in a timely manner and meeting deadlines.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 14 and 20
• General MS Office skills – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Bluebeam and other PM software.
• Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
• Excellent communicator, self-motivated individual with great organizational skills.
• Decision making ability and leadership skills.
• Time management and organization skills.
• Candidates must pass a drug screen.
• Candidates must be able to show proof of work eligibility.
